Roberto Cipresso
Italian Winemaking
Native of Bassano del Grappa, Roberto settled in Montalcino and started his winemaking career in 1987. His cooperation with important producers (such as Case Basse, Poggio Antico and Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona), rapidly extended to many other prestigious Italian and foreign companies.
In 1999 Roberto created Winemaking, an exclusive team of highly specialized agronomic and oenologic consultants and selected technicians. Winemaking now works for more than thirty companies throughout the Italian territory and with prestigious foreign ones too, such as the Achaval-Ferrer Winery in Argentina.
Roberto is the proud owner of award-winning Fattoria La Fiorita, a boutique winery located in the heart of Montalcino. La Fiorita produces very few, extremely precious, bottles of Brunello. In 2011 five of Roberto’s wines where awarded with one 99/100, three 98/100 and one 97/100 by Robert Parker, patron of The Wine Advocate. His Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2006 La Fiorita, 95/100 Wine Spectator rating, was listed as one of the Best 50 Wines in Italy during the Best Italian Wines Awards 2012 and received the Gold Medal at the “Merano Wine Festival 2012”.
Roberto’s Finca Bella Vista 2010, Bodega Achaval-Ferrer in Mendoza ranked in the “Top 10 Wine Spectator 2012” and he is also the creator and founder of the innovative Winecircus project, an experimental laboratory-cellar. Here, with the assistance of a team of experts, he conducts research, studies the different aspects of the vine activity and produces signature experimental bottles. His awards and achievements include the special Cuvée created for the Pope John Paul II in 2000, and the special wine made in occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. Roberto is the author of three books, “Il Romanzo del Vino”, “Vinosofia” and “Vineide”, and often holds lectures and speeches at wine schools and important universities world-wide.
Charismatic, brilliant and passionate about wine Roberto loves to share his knowledge and skills, leading others into the complex and fascinating realm of wine-making. He has recently made his Winecircus cellars available for special, exciting hands-on wine-creating experiences.
